Our Book Scouting Trip Starts in OHIO

The first part of our book scouting adventure involved delivering in person an order of books to our good friend and customer Lynn Stanley in Ohio.   Lynn and her mom Aileen have come to visit us several times over the past few years, and it was our pleasure to finally visit Lynn and see her fine book collection, and to view her mother’s lovely bonsai trees and her gardens in person on our way through Ohio.

Great friends, great books! (Cathy and Lynn)

Many of these book came from our inventory at Old Scrolls Book Shop -- into the home of a lady with great taste!

We all went out to dinner with Lynn’s parents, Paul and Aileen to a terrific Chinese Restaurant (China Cottage, Beavercreek, OH)

Wonderful food, great atmosphere, great company...and the best pot-stickers ever!

On Sunday morning Lynn treated us to a delicious breakfast of scrambled eggs, homemade biscuits and gravy…

Homemade biscuits!!

Then it was on to Paul and Aileen’s house to see the Bonsai collection…

While sitting on the screened porch, we happened to notice that Ron had left the WIDE WIDTH store tags on the toes of his shoes!  We all had a good laugh…

Our thanks to Lynn, Aileen and Paul — thanks for the great food, hospitality, and cuttings from your garden, which we will do our best to keep alive on this trip!  We said goodbye and hit the trail south toward Cincinnati.

When we stopped for gas, this huge rig pulled into the gas station.  It was Atria’s Great Mystery Bus Tour, which had already deposited four authors in Dayton, Ohio for a book signing event!  Catch these authors at a book signing event coming to a city near you (click on link above for schedule and details).

Tomorrow’s agenda includes antiquarian book shopping at Duttenhoffer’s and the Ohio Book Store in Cincinnati.

See you there!

    • Hi Corinne,
Trip is going great. Hit four antiquarian book shops in Cincinatti, OH — nice town! Now in Lexington, KY. Great bourbon — helped us recover and find our room! Hope all goes well on your end.
