New Cover for an Old Book Store

About a month ago, Ron and I were sitting on the front porch entry to our bookstore, relaxing for a few minutes (which doesn’t happen often enough).  I must have been having a pretty good cocktail, because certain sections of the wood on the front door and the surrounding trim started to take on a different appearance to me…in my mind, they were morphing into…books!

Anyway, the vision got me going and here’s what happened:

Ron painted the panels on each side of the door in chalkboard paint, so I can post store hours, notes, or a quote of the week!

I  added an appropriate permanent quote on the porch wall:

and stenciled our store name above the door.

Then I painted a chunk of granite to help guide people from the parking area to the front door…

That must have been some cocktail, eh?  I think it was Balcone’s Baby Blue bourbon, with just a wee bit of water and ice (just in case you, too, need a little inspiration).
